Home!

June 18th: I have been dreaming of living in the islands since I first visited there 21 years ago. Today, my dream came true. Jon and Lindsey had already been on the island for 3 days, staying in Sweet Dreams. We met and took a short cruise to Jones Island before heading over to unload some stuff at Home.
Jon helping Lindsey tie up the boat after our short cruise...
At Home, Jon hooks up the phones... and Lindsey gets my computer and internet set up. Jon driving us over to Olga...
Sweet...
These guys are always laughing and having fun... it was SO great to have this time with them in the islands.
Olga Park...
After a great lunch at Olga Cafe...
Jon and Lindsey left the next day, and I had 2 days to get settled in to Home. 3 deer in front this first evening...
Lots of wild rose bushes around the property...
There's a mother and baby racoon living under my deck. Mamma checks me out...
This was taken a moment after I saw the baby nursing... but my camera scared them off.
I took a drive to South Beach... lots of foxes there. This one posed for my camera.
And 2 more... by the side of the road...

Found a house!

Margaret and I visited the islands June 2-8, and found a house!
A favorite brunch at Roche Harbor.
The house... loved it on first view! On 1.5 acres, private, quiet, "feels good" kind of place.
This house has 3 bedrooms... 2 for guests... and
plenty of space for lots of family and visitors! Front...
Kitchen...
Large, open living room. Two guest rooms are to the right.
Large south-facing windows towards the water in the living room...
open staircase up to loft and MBR...
large loft... lots of light...
loft... master bedroom to right...
looking down to dining area...
deck...
I've seen deer there every day in the front "natural area"...
Margaret checks out Eagle Cove Beach... one block away from house...
A sandy beach (rare in the islands)...
Shallow cove warms the water for wading...
American Camp National Park... right next door!
South Beach at American Camp... miles of walking beach...
Margaret drives us through the islands...
River otter on Olga dock. He jumped up and stayed a long time, grooming, rolling...
scratching...
and checking us out...
Bald eages are plentiful all around the islands
This one swooped down for a fish, but landed in the water.
Eagles can't take off from the water, so he "paddled" back to shore!
Not sure what this is... but it was beautiful!
Little park above Friday Harbor Marina.
Sunset over Sweet Dreams.
